OMT is not intended to replace medical care or treatment. It is an adjunct therapy designed to address muscle function and oral rest posture related to oral and facial muscles.

2. Always Consult Your Licensed Healthcare Provider

If you have any underlying medical conditions, including but not limited to swallowing disorders, temporomandibular joint (“TMJ”) disorders, or any other health conditions, it is important to consult your physician or a specialist before beginning OMT.

3. Scope of Practice

Orofacial myofunctional therapy is not a medical, dental, mental health, physical therapy, occupational therapy, or speech-language pathology service.

Orofacial myofunctional therapy can be helpful in alleviating, or in some cases eliminating, symptoms of other disorders or conditions, this is not the purpose of therapy and will only treat improper oral resting posture.

These services are provided by a licensed Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) with additional training in orofacial myofunctional therapy. Although the therapist is a licensed dental hygienist in the states of North Carolina and Colorado, while in the role of an orofacial myofunctional therapist no medical and dental care, diagnosis or treatment is being provided in any capacity.

The orofacial myofunctional therapist is not serving as a medical provider, rather, in the capacity as facilitator, coach, mentor, trainer, or guide to provide me with education, information, strategies, and tools to supplement any medical treatment myself or my child is receiving from licensed medical providers.

Participation in therapy may include a multi-disciplinary approach in collaboration with other healthcare providers. This may result in recommendations to seek additional specialty care that could impact myofunctional treatment outcomes. Results may vary, and consistent participation and compliance are required for success from clients and/or parents. Treatment will consist of engaging various muscles through targeted exercises that are involved with tongue posture, breathing, chewing and swallowing.

4. No Provider-Patient Relationship via Website; Establishment of Therapeutic Relationship

Use of this Website does not establish a provider-patient relationship. A formal therapeutic relationship is only created once an individual:

• Completes the appropriate intake process,
  

• Signs a program consent and/or telehealth agreement, and

  
  

• Is officially accepted as a client by Realign Myo Therapy, LLC.
  

5. Telehealth Limitations

OMT may be provided via telehealth through a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform. While telehealth can be effective for many types of care, it has limitations, including the inability to perform certain physical assessments that may be necessary for a comprehensive evaluation and treatment plan.

You understand and accept the limitations of telehealth’s remote services, and you understand and accept that the use of OMT via telehealth is at the user’s own risk.

6. Individual Results May Vary

Every client responds differently to OMT. While many individuals experience improvements in muscle function and related symptoms, the outcome of OMT is not guaranteed. Progress and effectiveness depend on individual health history, coordination with other healthcare providers, client participation and commitment to therapy, and adherence to recommended exercises. We make no guarantees as to specific results, outcomes, or timelines.

7. Voluntary Participation

Participation in OMT is voluntary, and you have the right to discontinue therapy at any time. It is important to communicate openly with your OMT provider regarding any discomfort or concerns during the course of therapy.

8. No Emergency Services

We do not provide emergency services, including medical or dental care, of any kind.

If you believe you are experiencing a medical or psychiatric emergency, call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room immediately.
